Author Credit Policy
Authorship and Contribution Policy
Journal of Computational Informatics & Business (JCIB) is committed to ensuring that all contributors receive fair, transparent, and accurate recognition for their work. In accordance with international ethical publishing standards, each author’s specific contribution must be clearly defined at the time of manuscript submission.
Author Contributions (CRediT Taxonomy)
JCIB requires all authors to specify their contributions using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) framework, which include the following roles:
- Conceptualization
- Methodology
- Software
- Validation
- Formal Analysis
- Investigation
- Resources
- Data Curation
- Writing – Original Draft
- Writing – Review & Editing
- Visualization
- Supervision
- Project Administration
- Funding Acquisition
Authorship Criteria
Authorship is limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript preparation. In line with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines, authors must meet all of the following criteria:
- Significant contribution to the conception, design, analysis, or interpretation of the study.
- Involvement in drafting or critically revising the manuscript.
- Approval of the final version for publication.
Individuals who do not meet all criteria should be acknowledged appropriately in the Acknowledgments section.
The use of AI tools for writing or editing is permitted only as assistance, and such tools cannot be listed as authors.
Order of Authors
The sequence of authors should reflect the relative contribution of each individual:
- The first author typically has the primary role in conducting the research and preparing the manuscript.
- The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal and ensuring that all co-authors approve the final manuscript before submission.
Acknowledgment of Non-Author Contributions
Contributors who provide technical, administrative, or financial support but do not meet authorship criteria must be recognized in the Acknowledgments section.
Ghost and Honorary Authorship
JCIB strictly prohibits unethical authorship practices, including
- Ghost Authorship: Excluding individuals who meet authorship criteria.
- Honorary (Guest) Authorship: Includes individuals who have not made a significant contribution.
Such practices violate COPE guidelines and may lead to rejection, retraction, or other corrective actions.
Responsibilities of the Corresponding Author
The corresponding author bears overall responsibility for the manuscript throughout the editorial and publication process, including:
- Managing all communication with the journal.
- Submitting and revising the manuscript.
- Ensuring all co-authors review and approve the final version.
- Addressing reviewer and editor comments.
- Verifying author details, affiliations, and ethical disclosures.
Resolving Authorship Disputes
Authorship disputes are handled in accordance with COPE recommendations.
Procedure:
- Initial Complaint: Submit a formal written complaint with supporting evidence to editor@jcib.org
- Acknowledgement: The journal will acknowledge receipt within five (5) working days; the manuscript may be placed on hold during investigation.
- Statements Collection: All involved parties must provide signed statements detailing their contributions.
- Institutional Referral: If necessary, the matter may be referred to the relevant institution(s).
- Outcome: Based on findings, the journal may proceed with publication, request corrections, reject the manuscript, or retract the article.
- Confidentiality: All communications are treated confidentially.
- Mediation (Optional): External mediation may be suggested if the dispute remains unresolved.
