Research and Publishing Ethics Policy

 The Journal of Computational Informatics & Business (JCIB) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in scholarly publishing.

The journal strictly adheres to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and promotes ethical conduct among authors, editors, and reviewers throughout the publication process.

Research Integrity

  • All submissions must represent original, high-quality, and ethical research.
  • No other journal should be considering the manuscripts.
  • Submission of plagiarized, defamatory, or unlawful content is strictly prohibited.
  • Authors must obtain necessary permissions for third-party materials and informed consent where applicable.
  • Authorship must reflect genuine contributions; ghost and honorary authorship are not permitted.

Peer Review Integrity and AI Policy

  • The peer review process must maintain confidentiality, objectivity, and independence.
  • The use of AI tools or Large Language Models (LLMs) for reviewing or evaluating manuscripts is strictly prohibited.
  • Reviews must be conducted solely by qualified human experts.
  • Any misuse of AI during peer review constitutes ethical misconduct.

Authorship and Use of AI

Authors must:

  • Make substantial contributions to the research design, analysis, or manuscript preparation.
  • Approve the final version of the manuscript.
  • Accept full responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the work.

AI tools:

  • Cannot be listed as authors.
  • It may only be used for language editing or proofreading, with proper disclosure in the manuscript.

Generative AI Policy

  • Generative AI must not be used to write manuscripts, generate data, or produce results.
  • AI tools may only assist in data analysis under appropriate supervision.
  • AI-generated images, figures, or content are not permitted.
  • Grammar and proofreading tools may be used with clear disclosure.

Citation and Attribution

  • All references must be accurate, relevant, and properly cited, preferably following the IEEE citation style.
  • The following practices are strictly prohibited:
    • Excessive or inappropriate self-citation
    • Coercive citation by editors or reviewers
    • Any form of citation manipulation

Violations may lead to rejection or disciplinary action.

Conflict of Interest

All participants in the publication process must disclose any financial, professional, or personal conflicts of interest that could influence their work.

Failure to disclose conflicts may result in manuscript rejection or institutional notification.

Data and Image Integrity

  • Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data or images is strictly prohibited.
  • Authors may be required to provide raw data for verification.
  • Confirmed violations will result in rejection or retraction.

Ethical Approvals and Consent

Research involving human or animal subjects must include:

  • Name of the ethics committee or review board
  • Approval reference number (if applicable)
  • Statement confirming informed consent

If formal approval is not required, authors must provide a justified explanation.

Use of Third-Party Data

  • Authors must ensure that third-party datasets are used with proper authorization or are publicly available.
  • Sensitive data must be anonymized, unless explicit consent has been obtained.

Plagiarism and Self-Plagiarism

  • All submissions are screened using Turnitin and Crossref Similarity Check.
  • Overall similarity must be below 20%, with proper citation.
  • Self-plagiarism without appropriate referencing is prohibited.

Confirmed violations will result in rejection, retraction, or further action in accordance with COPE guidelines.

Duplicate and Redundant Publication

  • Simultaneous submission to multiple journals is strictly prohibited.
  • Duplicate or redundant publication will result in immediate rejection or retraction.

Grievances and Appeals

  • Authors may submit appeals against editorial decisions within two (2) months of notification.
  • Appeals must be submitted in writing with supporting justification.
  • Unresolved cases may be referred to an independent ombudsperson for mediation.

Ethics Oversight

JCIB maintains an independent Ethics Committee and Ombudsperson to oversee ethical concerns and disputes.

  • All cases are handled with strict confidentiality
  • Investigations follow COPE standards and best practices
