Post-publication Correction and Retraction Policy

Commitment to Research Integrity

The Journal of Computational Informatics & Business (JCIB), is committed to maintaining the accuracy, reliability, and transparency of the scholarly record. All post-publication changes follow COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidance and are executed through consistent, ethical procedures.

Types of Post-Publication Changes

Correction Notices

Used for errors that do not invalidate the findings but require formal clarification.

• Erratum: Journal-introduced errors (e.g., typographical, layout).
• Corrigendum: Author-introduced errors (e.g., data miscalculation, mislabeled figures/tables).

Both are:

• Bidirectionally linked to the original article.
• Explicit about the error and the correction made.

Retractions

Issued when the trustworthiness of the work is fundamentally compromised, due to error or misconduct.

Grounds include:

• Serious errors in data collection/analysis leading to erroneous conclusions.
• Proven misconduct (fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, unethical research).

Each Retraction Notice:

• States the reason for retraction.
• Is bidirectionally linked with the original article.
• Leaves the original available and clearly labeled “Retracted.”

Expressions of Concern

Published when there is a serious, yet unresolved concern, or while an institutional investigation is underway.

• Linked to the article.
• Updated or replaced by a Correction or Retraction once outcomes are known.

Withdrawal Policy

• Pre-Publication Withdrawal:
  Authors may request withdrawal during peer review; approval rests with the editorial office. Withdrawn submissions are permanently removed from the system and cannot be published.
• Post-Publication Withdrawal:
  The publication record is permanent. Articles are not removed; instead, Corrections/Retractions/Expressions of concern are issued to preserve transparency and trust.

Post-Publication Change Process

• Decision-Making:
  The Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with the editorial board—and, when appropriate, the author’s institution, evaluates and authorizes actions.
• Author Notification:
  Authors are informed of proposed actions and allowed to respond.
• Reader Notification:
  All changes are made openly and directly linked to the affected article with no ambiguity.

COPE Compliance

JCIB adheres to COPE Retraction Guidelines and established ethical procedures for managing corrections, retractions, withdrawals, and expressions of concern.
